Peter Cullinane
PresidentPeter Cullinane founded Akokli Construction LTD. with a passion for building and a deep commitment to excellence. His goal is to provide top-notch construction services tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. With 30 years of experience in the industry, he has cultivated a reputation for quality craftsmanship and reliability. Peter approaches every job with meticulous attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction. Whether it’s a residential project or a commercial build, he ensures that each project is completed on time and within budget.
In addition to leading Akokli Construction, Peter also manages logistics, operations and reclamation for remote Artic exploration camps. Taking a hands-on approach, he oversees team coordination, resource allocation and on-site troubleshooting to ensure each project runs efficiently and effectively. This unique role requires not only robust logistical skills but also a deep understanding of the challenging Arctic environment. Leveraging his extensive experience, Peter brings a wealth of knowledge in navigating complex projects, making Akokli Construction LTD. a trusted partner for construction and mineral exploration needs, even in the most remote locations.
Matt La Rose
Director of Field Operations & SafetyMatt grew up in a small town in central Alberta where he learned the value of hard work from his family. Grit, determination, intention and integrity became his core working values.
Matt became a Red Seal Electrician in 2012 and has worked in a range of industries over the last decade including construction, aviation, quality control and exploration. Through his vast experience, he has gained myriad skills and thrives in supervisory roles. Regardless of the task at hand, Matt believes in the pursuit of excellence and never backs down from the challenges presented on the job.
In 2018 Matt moved to the East Shore of Kootenay Lake where he joined Akokli. He has become an integral part of the Akokli family, developing safety programs, operational procedures and remote logistics.
Dave Fehr
Director of MaintenanceDave grew up in Southern Manitoba. He followed his father’s footsteps into a life of mechanics. Dave lets their saying, “There are few things made that can’t be made better,” guide his career.
He spent 20 years in the oil patch and trucking fields repairing and rebuilding highway tractors, assembling generators, power units and more. Dave has been involved in many aspects of his trade and learned quickly how to assess and bring solutions to the problems he is presented with. This culminated in him teaching mechanics at SAIT Polytechnic before moving to Kootenay Lake.
Dave has worked closely with Peter Cullinane at Akokli for 8 years where he has had the opportunity to use his extensive knowledge and experience to solve every challenge he has been faced with to great success.
John VanderHeide
Field Program ManagerJohn grew up in Alberta and has dedicated his life to his trade and his family, traversing the globe for work opportunities. After a lifetime of exploration, he chose to settle in the picturesque Kootenays in BC.
John joined the Akokli team in 2017. Boasting over 20 years of experience as a drilling supervisor his management skills have been honed through diverse and complex projects. John has an unwavering commitment to ensuring the health and safety of all operational personnel.
As Field Program Manager, John seamlessly integrates his extensive regulatory and environmental expertise with a knack for optimizing operations. He leads with poise and precision, consistently making sound decisions that drive project success.
